‘‘Empowering Innovation: Our Inspiring Experience at Alliance Manchester Business School’s Startup Weekend
This weekend, Green Energy Mills had the privilege of participating in the vibrant and innovative Startup Weekend hosted by Alliance Manchester Business School. The event brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and enthusiastic students for three days of collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving.
From the moment we stepped into the event on Friday, the energy in the room was palpable. The weekend kicked off with presentations from participating companies, including Green Energy Mills, giving us the opportunity to share our mission and vision. Afterward, students were assigned to various groups, each working closely with a specific company. This marked the beginning of an unforgettable journey of teamwork and innovation.
Saturday: Challenges and Creative Solutions
Saturday was all about diving deep into the challenges of running a company. The students, guided by their assigned mentors, tackled tasks designed to simulate real-world business obstacles. These tasks weren’t just about solving problems-they pushed participants to think outside the box, develop innovative solutions, and work cohesively as a team under time pressure.
For us at Green Energy Mills, it was inspiring to see the fresh perspectives and enthusiasm that the students brought to the table. They approached challenges with creativity and determination, reinforcing the importance of diverse viewpoints in driving innovation.
Sunday: Pitching Groundbreaking Ideas
The weekend culminated on Sunday with dynamic presentations from each group. The students showcased their ideas, presenting their solutions to a panel of judges comprised of industry experts. It was incredible to witness the transformation from brainstorming on Friday to fully-formed concepts on Sunday.
The level of thought and effort that went into these presentations was remarkable. The ideas presented weren’t just creative-they were practical, forward-thinking, and reflective of the collaborative spirit of the weekend.
